Senior Analyst - Risk Management
Overview of Position Senior Analyst with past experience in the risk management space for its Analytics group. The Senior Analyst would be expected to work most of his/her time working with client service teams across the globe on risk management (more specifically modeling) issues, including credit risk as well as other risk types such as market, operational, and business risk. The Senior Analyst would be located in Gurgaon, India. However, the Senior Analyst could travel to serve clients onsite.
Senior Analysts would grow into a project leader role, leading teams of analysts on client engagements. Career growth from there on could be either on a specialist track focusing on content leadership or a managerial track focusing on people leadership. Extraordinary individuals on the specialist track could also transition to an expert consultant track and be eligible for election to a Partner in the Firm.
Analytics helps our consultants solve complex data intensive business problems by leveraging specialized tools and techniques for data analysis and modeling. A dedicated Risk Analytics Center of Competence has been established within Analytics to create cutting edge models for credit scoring, commodity prices, interest rates, currency fluctuations etc.
Responsibilities The Senior Analyst would spend a significant part (50-80%) of his/her time working with the Risk Management practice and consulting teams in helping solve analytically complex client problems in the Risk domain e.g. developing Credit Risk Scoring Models for clients in the financial sector.
Specifically, he/she will be expected to perform the following roles:
¶ Lead modeling workstream in client engagements (such as the development of a rating model). For example:
Ÿ Define data requirements for creating a model;
Ÿ Clean, aggregate, analyze and interpret data and statistical modeling output;
Ÿ Coach junior members of the team working alongside on the model development exercise.
¶ Provide expert advice to consulting teams on modeling related issues
¶ Support development and maintenance of proprietary Risk management tools and other knowledge development projects
The senior analyst will also spend a part of his time playing a similar role on client problems outside the risk domain, in situations involving intensive data analysis and modeling.
Knowledge & Skills Required We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated both a strong business sense and deep understanding of the quantitative foundations of risk management. . Candidates must also possess the following hallmarks of excellent problem solving skills, team skills, entrepreneurial ability, and strong communication skills:
¶ Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions.
¶ Good written and verbal communication skills. Fluent in both written and spoken English; prior experience in a multi-national environment desirable.
¶ Energetic, cooperative and pleasant personality. Able to work with and coach effectively a diverse group of team members
¶ Flexibility, patience, and an understanding of fluid, demanding, and unstructured environments where priorities evolve constantly and methodologies are regularly challenged.
¶ Ability to work under pressure and deliver on tight deadlines
In addition, successful execution of this role will also need high levels of technical expertise. Candidates should have exposure (and some degree of expertise) to some of the following tools and techniques:
¶ Techniques like regressions (linear, logistic, multinomial), CHAID, neural networks, factor analysis, time series analysis (ARIMA), stochastic processes etc.
¶ Tools like SAS, SPSS, Answer Tree, Crystal Ball, @Risk etc.
Education & Previous Experience Required ¶ MBA from top B-Schools (IIM's, XLRI, XIMB, FMS, IIFT, SPJIMR, Symbiosys, ISB) with an outstanding academic record.
¶ 1-4 years of professional work experience with a reputed bank, insurance, other financial firm or analytics firm with at least two years of experience in risk management.
Ÿ Specific exposure to either credit risk or market risk.
Ÿ Quantitative risk management experience is essential.
